Since the pandemic, the Sioux City East Sing All About It show choir competition has grown. This year, the competition attracts tons of heavy hitters from across the upper Midwest. Let’s preview what we can expect.
Prep Division:
Grand Island “Future Image”
Elkhorn North “ENcore”
Future Image has been having an okay season. The prep group won this division at both Hastings and Grand Island Northwest earlier in the season. Meanwhile ENcore has not won this division yet but has made finals at Southeast Polk. ENcore could win the prep division for the first time this season.
Bass Division:
Bishop Heelan “MoMANtum”
While being the only group in the division, MoMANtum has had a very impressive season so far, winning the Bass Division at Spirit Lake and placing 3rd overall at Sioux Center.
Treble Division:
Sioux Falls Roosevelt “Capitol Harmony”
Aberdeen Central “Special Request”
Bishop Heelan “Magnifique”
Grand Island “Sweet Revelation”
Both Special Request and Sweet Revelation haven’t won this division all season, so there is a good chance for both groups to step up and grab their first divisional GC. On the other hand, Capitol Harmony and Magnifique have both won this division and made an appearance in finals.
Mixed Division:
Gretna East “Equinox”
Elkhorn North “AdrENaline”
Grand Island “Ultimate Image”
Sioux Falls Roosevelt “Executive Suite”
Sioux Center “Satisfaction”
Aberdeen Central “Eagle Express”
Bishop Heelan “Harmonia Mundi”
Mitchell “Friend De Coup”
There is a lot to take into account when looking at this stacked lineup. First, there are eight varsity groups here, and only six of them can make finals. Equinox seems like the fan favorite to win. They have improved significantly in quality from 2024 to 2025 with the addition of Nathan Wallace and have not missed the podium since that director change.
AdrENaline is a group that should not be slept on as they have had a sneakily good year. Elkhorn North placed third at Gretna East and Southeast Polk against some tough groups, and won over Millard North at Elkhorn, indicating there is a chance AdrENaline wins this competition. On the flip side, Ultimate Image has not seen the same success. They are the only group in the mixed division to have missed finals earlier in the season. Executive Suite has also been flying under the radar with strong results this season. While they haven’t won a competition yet, this year's show has performed much better than the last few years, incluidng a pair of First Runner Ups.
When talking about crazy good seasons, Satisfaction comes up. Since switching to Kevin Chase as a choreographer, the group hasn’t missed the podium. They even won at Spirit Lake earlier this season, the group's first grand champion trophy in program history. Their win at Spirit Lake also including beating Harmonia Mundi, one of their competitors here at Sioux City East.
Like Ultimate Image, Eagle Express has been having a lackluster year compared to their usual performance. With their 6th place finish at O’Gorman last weekend, they are going to be fighting to make finals this weekend. Harmonia Mundi is not the same powerhouse it was last season, only winning one competition so far this season and will also be fighting to make finals. Friend De Coup lost to Blackout and Rhythm in Gold at O’Gorman last week, opening the door for both Equinox AND AdrENaline to upset the South Dakota powerhouse. It is worth noting that Mitchell has won this competition every year they’ve attended since 2022, although they were not present in 2024.
Finals Predictions:
1st: Gretna East “Equinox” (BV, BC)
2nd: Elkhorn North “AdrENaline”
3rd: Mitchell “Friend De Coup” (BB)
4th: Sioux Center “Satisfaction”
5th: Sioux Falls Roosevelt “Executive Suite”
6th: Bishop Heelan “Harmonia Mundi”
