News and Notes

West Jones Sits At Silver

The tier seeing the most movement this weekend is the 4A/3A division. In it, we see West Jones jump from 5th to 2nd overall after beating Brandon this past weekend, who themselves dropped from 3rd to 5th. Homewood jumps from 6th to 3rd after winning a heavily stacked Auburn competition last weekend, where Petal fell from fourth to being unranked after missing finals. Grenada gained some positive momentum following a weak start to their season, jumping from unranked to 6th following an impressive Second Runner Up performance at Auburn.

Biloxi Treble Receives Due Flowers

Despite only losing to Tupelo, Biloxi's treble group had floated around the bottom half of the single-gender rankings for most of the season. However, after a statement win over treble groups from Northwest Rankin and Brandon, Biloxi's treble group have finally turned the table and earned themselves a 4th place ranking in the single gender tier.

2A Standings Appears Set

With South Jones winning their division once again for an undefeated season, the 2A tier remains unchanged from last week's set. Don't expect much movement next week either, as none of the top 5 groups are competing again this upcoming weekend.

Clinton Christian Academy Makes Statement

After getting fairly close to upsetting West Marion, Clinton Christian Academy seems to have solidified themselves in the 3rd place spot for 1A at the moment. Also worth noting, Pass Christian, who finished last season at 3rd in the rankings, received no votes this week, losing matchups against a pair of top five groups they have faced this year.

Future Matchups

As always, this next week promises some exciting matchups for our future ballots. Down in Biloxi, Grenada has a chance to take revenge against top-ranked single-gender group Tupelo. In Jasper, Briarwood has a chance to shoot up the rankings with a matchup against Oak Mountain. However, Brandon may have the greatest opportunity. Coming off a loss against West Jones, Brandon is presented with a chance to take down top national groups like Millard West (NE), Zionsville (IN), Plainfield (IN), and Loveland (OH).
