Sioux City East brought the heat, with eight quality groups shooting for six finalists spots. At the end of the night, Gretna East took home the first-place trophy and Best Vocals, while Mitchell grabbed the other two captions while placing fourth.
Prep Division
1st: Elkhorn North “ENcore”
2nd: Grand Island “Future Image”
This is the first prep division win for ENcore since becoming a mixed prep group ahead of the 2026 season. ENcore also took the Paula Keeler Sportsmanship Award at this competition.
Womens Division
1st: Sioux Falls Roosevelt “Capital Harmony”
2nd: Aberdeen Central “Special Request”
3rd: Bishop Heelan “Magnifique”
4th: Grand Island “Sweet Revelation”
Capital Harmony takes its third division win of the season, only losing to Sioux Falls Jefferson Revelry at Sioux Falls Washington and Mitchell. Sioux Falls Roosevelt is also reportedly adding a mens group for the 2026-2027 season. Special Request has now gone two seasons in a row without a division win. Magnifique is not done quite yet, as they will be competing at Westwood and Hinton.
Final Results
1st: Gretna East “Equinox” (BV)
2nd: Elkhorn North “AdrENaline”
3rd: Bishop Heelan “Harmonia Mundi”
4th: Mitchell “Friend de Coup” (BC, BB)
5th: Sioux Center “Satisfaction”
6th: Sioux Falls Roosevelt “Executive Suite”
Before getting to the finalists, there are two varsity groups that missed out on finals: Aberdeen Central Eagle Express and Grand Island Ultimate Image. This is the first time Eagle Express has missed finals since 2018, marking the end of a 31-competition streak.
Some things circle back around in quite the ironic way. Executive Suite started their season with a sixth-place finish, and now they end their season with a sixth-place finish. While they didn’t capture a Grand Champion trophy this season, this year's show was a step in the right direction.
This is Satisfaction's lowest placement of the season so far. The group swapped places with Harmonia Mundi after beating them at Spirit Lake. The two face off one more time this season at Westwood as Sioux Center comes to the close of a busy seven-competition season that also included hosting a competition and going to an IHSMA show choir festival.
Seeing Friend de Coup in fourth place with Best Band and Best Choreography might be a little unusual. One guess is that, while FDC might’ve done well visually, other groups did better vocally. FDC travels to Brownsburg, Indiana next weekend, where they will be competing against some of the best groups in the state.
As mentioned when talking about Satisfaction, Harmonia Mundi upsetting them and FDC might’ve been something people weren’t expecting to see. Harmonia Mundi has two more competitions left this season, at Westwood and Hinton. They will likely be in the battle for the win at both.
AdrENaline is a group to watch out for in the future. They have slowly been rising through the Nebraska ranks, and their showing at Sioux City East proved that they shouldn’t be underestimated.
Winning their third comp of the season, Equinox is certainly a top-five Nebraska group this season. Going from making finals once in 2024 to now being one of the best groups in the state is an impressive feat, and there’s room for their program to go up from here.
