With one regional competition and two separate events featuring Southern groups, there's plenty to review as the wind down begins for what has been an absolutely wild season. There's plenty to break down the three events from this last weekend and also a glance ahead to the final round of Southern competition in 2026.

The lone Southern circuit competition from this past weekend, the Madison Central Deep South Classic, resulted in a very successful weekend for the Northwest Rankin program. After a great showing two weeks ago at Biloxi, Northwest Rankin won their first Grand Championship of the season here with the Best Vocals and Best Choreography captions. Not only that, but their bass group (yes, bass, not treble), also made finals and finished fifth. This marks the first time a bass group has ever made finals at a Mississippi competition. Hamilton, capping of their stellar debut season, earned the runner-up title at this event with the Best Show Design caption. They were followed by Biloxi in third and Jackson Prep in fourth.

With Northwest Rankin The Ambition being the only single-gender group making finals, they also subsequently won that division. Biloxi’s treble group was second place in the division, followed by Northwest Rankin’s treble group and then Biloxi’s bass group, respectively. In the 2A division, with Jackson Prep making finals, they also topped division newcomer Pass Christian for the divisional win. In 1A, Clinton Christian Academy walked away with the divisional win (their second of the season) with Pisgah behind them in second place. Morton and Tishomingo County rounded out the division in 3rd and 4th, respectively. Final results are posted below (Five finalists):

Travelers

The big competition of every year happened this last weekend at Show Choir Nationals, where there were three competing Southern programs out of 12 total mixed groups. Homewood placed the highest of the Southern groups, stepping on the podium and placing third overall. Grenada showed up in a big way, making finals and placing sixth. Donelson Christian Academy rounded out the bunch in 11th place overall. In the single-gender division, Homewood Nexus did not place in the top four. The other event featuring Southern groups this last weekend was FAME Show Choir America, where Auburn was second in mixed and fielded the only two groups in the single-gender division.

Looking Forward

With another round of Southern show choir behind us, it’s time to look forward to the last weekend of Southern show choir. Brandon ELITE will bring a little outdoor flare to the circuit again this year after the event was forced indoors last year.
