News and Notes

  • Gretna East continues its rapid ascent in the rankings, making waves in the Large School division after previously being classified as a Small School last season. The jump to a more competitive field is no easy feat, yet they’ve shown they can hold their own against some of Nebraska’s top-tier programs. With each performance, they continue to exceed expectations, proving that their success last year was just the beginning. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Gretna East to see just how high they can climb.

  • Norris and Grand Island Northwest made massive leaps in the rankings after breakout performances this weekend. Norris rebounded from a finals miss in a big way, winning Grand Champion at Hastings, while Grand Island Northwest impressed with a 2nd Runner Up finish against some of Nebraska’s top competitors at Standing Bear. Both groups have put the state on notice and will be ones to watch as the season unfolds.

  • Millard West and Pius X are the only two groups in the rankings that haven't competed yet. Both will compete this weekend - WIG at Omaha Westside and Pius at Lincoln East.

  1. Westside “Simply Irresistible” (3 first-place votes, no change)

  2. Millard North “Illumination” (NC)

  3. Papillion-La Vista South “Titan Radiance” (+1)

  4. Lincoln East “Elegance” (+5)

  5. Millard West “Uptown” (NC)

News and Notes

  • The same contenders hold their spots for now, but as competitions continue, the rankings will start to take clearer shape. With each performance, groups have the chance to make a new impression, and the coming weeks will determine who rises, who falls, and who cements their place at the top.

  • Lincoln East Elegance took a huge step up in the rankings, despite being the only womens group at Standing Bear last week.

  • Westside maintains its top spot despite finishing second this weekend against Brandon Bellas, one of Mississippi’s premier womens groups.

Prep

  1. Westside “Warrior Express” (2 first-place votes, no change)

  2. Gretna “Evolution” (1 first-place vote, not ranked)

  3. Lincoln Southwest “Ambience” (+1)

  4. Millard West “Swing Cats” (-1)

  5. Papillion-La Vista South “Titan Express” (-3)

Receiving Votes: Elkhorn South "Power Surge"

News and Notes

  • One of the biggest risers this week is Gretna, which jumped into the top five in the prep division after an impressive showing at Standing Bear. They claimed Grand Champion in the Prep Division and, even more impressively, secured 4th Runner-Up in finals against some of Nebraska’s top-ranked large school programs.

  • Westside continues to hold strong at the top of the rankings, maintaining its position as the group to beat.

  • Millard West’s Swing Cats are set to kick off their season this weekend, and their debut could shake up the rankings once again. With several groups already making strong statements, it’ll be interesting to see how Millard West’s debut impacts the rankings.

Small School

  1. Wahoo “Royalty” (+1, 2 first-place votes)

  2. Skutt Catholic “Vivace” (-1, 1 first-place vote)

  3. Standing Bear “The Renegades” (+1)

  4. Aurora “Rhapsody” (NR)

  5. Plattsmouth “Out of the Blue” (-2)

Receiving Votes: Lincoln Northwest "First Class", Blair "Ovation"

  • Skutt and Wahoo continue to battle it out for the top spot, a rivalry that’s quickly becoming a season-long theme.

  • Aurora made a strong debut in the rankings this week, securing 5th Runner Up at the Hastings Tiger Clash. This impressive finish marks a significant milestone for the group, propelling them into the spotlight and into the rankings for the first time this season.

  • Standing Bear will take a trip this week and compete across the Missouri River in Glenwood, Iowa. A finals berth there would keep them in strong contention for the top three in future rankings.
