Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Des Moines Christian and Prairie ran it back from a year ago, all claiming podium finishes at Ascension for the second consecutive year.
Womens Division
1st: Millard South “Stage One”
2nd: Liberty “Impact”
For the first time this season, Stage One wins their division. This might not be their
only divisional win, as they could also do well at Vermillion this weekend. Impact goes
the season without a divisional win, but this was their highest placement of the season.
Prep Division
1st: Johnston Middle “Sound Advice”
2nd: Waukee Prairieview “Genesis”
3rd: Prairie “Focal Point”
4th: Norwalk “Sound Adrenaline”
5th: Des Moines Christian “Salt Co.”
Interestingly, this is not Sound Advice's first division win this season, as they also won
the ninth grade division at Urbandale and made finals at Norwalk. Sound Advice might
take its first overall grand champion trophy this weekend at Central Lee, where they will compete in high school 4A in prelims. It was also interesting to see Genesis, another ninth grade ensemble, above groups like Focal Point and Salt Co.
Final Results
GC: Cedar Rapids Kennedy “Happiness Inc.” (BV, BC)
1RU: Des Moines Christian “Light Inc.” (BB)
2RU: Prairie “The Ambassadors”
3RU: Millard South “South On Stage”
4RU: Liberty “Storm”
5RU: Norwalk “Sound Revolution”
Interestingly enough, the top three here is the same as the tope three from last year's competition, with the only difference being The Ambassadors taking Best Band in the previous edition. Prairie and Kennedy will head to Liberty this weekend, with The Ambassadors still in search of their first win this season. South On Stage still has the opportunity to snag a win when they compete in Vermillion this weekend against Sioux Falls Jefferson and Bloomington Jefferson. Storm and Sound Revolution will not take any grand champion trophies this season, but shoutout to Sound Revolution for making finals at every competition they attended, something they have not done since 2022.
