News and Notes

  • Franklin Central moves into the top two with their split-caption victory over Carmel at the Brownsburg Bulldog Spectacular. FC Singers made a huge statement with this win, taking down Carmel for the first time since 2021 and avenging an earlier loss this season at the Chesterton Trojan Classic.

  • Fishers takes the sixth spot with their first runner up placement at the Marysville Showcase. At the Ohio event, Fishers outplaced Lafayette Jefferson, snapping their three competition win streak. Fishers will close out their season at Show Choir Nationals, where they will take on first ranked Center Grove, fifth ranked North Central, and ninth ranked Brownsburg in addition to several other national contenders.

  • Castle receives votes for the first time this season, with a strong first runner up at Lawrence Central’s The Classic. The Knight Sensations outplaced Plainfield and Lawrence North, putting them in prime position for a strong ISSMA finals performance.

  2. Center Grove “Debtones” (2 first-place votes)

  4. Zionsville “Choralaires” (+1)

  5. Carmel “Accents” (-1)

News and Notes

  • Franklin Central cemented their top three spot with a grand championship at the Brownsburg Bulldog Spectacular over fourth ranked Zionsville, fifth ranked Carmel, and sixth ranked Avon. High Voltage closes out their season with three grand championships, their most since a dominant 2021 season. This win also marks a changing of the guard, as Franklin Central outplaced the Carmel Accents for the first time since 2009.

  • Zionsville moved into fourth place this week with a season-concluding first runner up at Brownsburg ahead of the Carmel Accents. The Choralaires finished with two grand championships and two first runner ups in a strong season for the program.

  • First ranked Fishers and second ranked Center Grove will duel at Show Choir Nationals. Just two weekends ago, the pair tied at the Pendleton Heights Arabian Spectacular, resulting in split votes between our contributors. The national stage should serve as the ideal stage for determining who is the top women’s group in Indiana.

  • ISSMA state finals will see three top ten groups fighting for the title. Plainfield returns as the defending state champion and are entering the competition in top form, as they won Lawrence Central, sweeping both major captions ahead of North Central and Lawrence North. Last year’s runner up Avon will also be in contention for the top spot and outplaced Plainfield earlier this season at Southmont. Finally, tenth ranked Lawrence North should not be counted out. Earlier this season, Bella Bravada took their first grand championship in over a decade and will be a formidable dark horse for this event.

Small Mixed

  1. Roncalli "Royal Rhapsody" (5 first-place votes)

  2. Columbus North “Vocal Pointe”

  3. Huntington North “Varsity Singers”

  4. Pendleton Heights “Pendletones” (+1)

  • Franklin Community placed ninth in an open mixed division at Wheaton Warrenville South in Illinois, beating a large mixed ensemble along the way.

  • Where in Indiana will these groups be this weekend? Roncalli and FComm will duel at Noblesville, Huntington North, Pendleton Heights, and Columbia City will battle at the ISSMA Small School State Finals, and the season has concluded for Columbus North and Whiteland.
