Indiana Show Choir Rankings (2/14/25)

By William Soquet, Editor-in-Chief

Regional experts were surveyed on 30 of Indiana's best show choirs. These are the results.

Large Mixed

  1. Center Grove "Sound System" (4 first-place votes, no change)

  2. Carmel "Ambassadors" (NC)

  3. Franklin Central "F.C. Singers" (NC)

  4. North Central "Counterpoints" (NC)

  5. Zionsville "Royalaires" (NC)

  6. Plainfield "Belles et Beaux" (NC)

  7. Fishers "Electrum" (+1)

  8. Brownsburg "Spotlight Singers and Company" (-1)

  9. Avon "Accents" (+1)

  10. Noblesville "NHS Singers" (-1)

Receiving Votes: Lafayette Jefferson "First Edition", Carroll "Magic"

News and Notes

Winning Pays - The only two groups that moved up in the rankings were Fishers and Avon. Both won competitions on February 8 - Fishers at Anderson over Franklin Community and a smattering of small mixed choirs, and Avon at Plainfield over Noblesville.

Outside Storm Brewing? - All ten groups currently in the rankings hail from the Indianapolis metro area. However, the only two groups receiving votes are from outside the metro. Could Lafayette Jefferson or Carroll break in next week and spoil the central Indiana party?

Large Womens

  1. Center Grove "Debtones" (+1, 2 first-place votes)

  2. Fishers "Sound" (-1, 1 first-place vote)

  3. Carmel "Accents" (NC)

  4. Zionsville "Choralaires" (NC)

  5. Franklin Central "High Voltage" (NC)

  6. Avon "Attraction" (NC)

  7. Brownsburg "Starlight Voices" (NC)

  8. Plainfield "Femmes Fatales" (NC)

  9. North Central "Descants" (NC)

  10. Lawrence North "Bella Bravada" (Not Ranked)

    Receiving Votes: Noblesville "New Dimension"

News and Notes

Debs Taking Dubs: Center Grove Debtones have been flawless through two competitions this season and claimed the top spot in this week's rankings. They unseated Fishers Sound, who lost Best Vocals to Westfield Illumination at Anderson.

Bella Bravada Barging In: Off the strength of a runner-up finish in finals at Decatur Central, Lawrence North Bella Bravada unseated Noblesville New Dimension for the final spot in the rankings. It's the first appearance in the top ten for Bella Bravada since Feb. 15, 2024.

Small Mixed

  1. Roncalli "Royal Rhapsody" (2 first-place votes, NC)

  2. Huntington North "Varsity Singers" (1 first-place vote, NC)

  3. Pendleton Heights "Pendletones" (NC)

  4. Northridge "Northern Lights" (NC)

  5. DeKalb "Classic Connection" (NR)

    Receiving Votes: Whiteland "Rhythm Masters"

Small Womens

  1. Huntington North "Viking Volume" (3 first-place votes, NC)

  2. Pendleton Heights "Emerald Suites" (NC)

  3. Northridge "Starlights" (+1)

  4. New Castle "Dynamiques" (NR)

  5. Edgewood "Sophisticated Ladies" (-2)

Receiving Votes: Cathedral "Irish Adrenaline", Jay County "Just Treble"

News and Notes

Demure DeKalb: Hailing from a small mixed hotbed, DeKalb Classic Connection quietly climbed into the rankings on the strength of a first runner-up at Ball State and a second runner-up (in overall finals!) at Anderson.

Dynamic Dynamiques: New Castle Dynamiques are only in their second season of competition, but don't count the group out just because they're young. New Castle beat large groups Homestead and Northrop last week to score the division win at Carroll and vault into the top five small womens groups in the state.
