News and Notes
Lafayette Jefferson started their season strong with a first runners up that included taking the Best Vocals caption over Franklin Central. Last season, First Edition took three grand championships, and they proved once again they belong among the best ten groups in Indiana despite their small group size. This week, Lafayette Jefferson will take on seventh ranked Fishers as well as several strong small mixed groups, including Huntington North and Northridge at the Homestead Classic Showcase.
North Central cemented themselves as the fifth best group in the state with their win at the Southmont Show Choir Invitational over sixth ranked Avon and ninth ranked Plainfield. The Counterpoints took Best Vocals and Best Show Concept, in addition to defeating Avon, who went undefeated and won ISSMA state finals last year. The Counterpoints will look to build on that early season momentum at Pike Musicfest where they will face first ranked Center Grove and third ranked Zionsville this weekend.
Second ranked Carmel, fourth ranked Franklin Central, and tenth ranked Carroll will duel at the Chesterton Trojan Classic this week. They will also take on some of the best groups from across the country, including Gretna (NE), Brandon (MS), Cosby (VA), and Wheaton North (IL), who all enter this competition with win streaks under their belt, making it a challenge to even make finals.

Fishers "Sound" (+1, 1 first-place vote)
Carmel "Accents" (-1)
Zionsville "Choralaires" (+1)

News and Notes
North Central won their debut competition at the Southmont Show Choir Invitational, defeating Avon and Plainfield, while taking Best Vocals. The victory marked the Descants’ first grand championship in Indiana since 2019. Avon took first runner up with Best Visuals, outplacing the reigning state champion Plainfield, who was the final group in finals.
Franklin Central debuted at the Carroll Classic, taking the grand championship and Best Visuals at the event this past weekend. However, High Voltage dropped the vocals caption to Cathedral, a powerful small women’s group. Franklin Central will take on third ranked Carmel this week at the Chesterton Trojan Classic. In their last faceoff, Carmel bested Franklin Central in a split caption decision at the Brownsburg Bulldog Spectacular last year.
Center Grove remained undefeated with a grand championship at Fishers Silver Spotlight over Lawrence North and Noblesville, sweeping both Best Vocals and Visuals. This weekend, the Debtones will face their toughest competition yet this season, facing third ranked Zionsville and sixth ranked North Central, who is coming off a statement win at the Southmont Show Choir Invitational.

Small Mixed
Roncalli "Royal Rhapsody" (4 first-place votes)
Columbus North “Vocal Pointe” (+2)
Pendleton Heights “Pendletones” (-1)
Huntington North “Varsity Singers” (-1)
Whiteland Community “Rhythm Masters” (NEW)
Receiving Votes: Franklin Community “Heritage Singers”
News and Notes
Columbus North has risen from an unranked group to second in the state in just a few short weeks. This past weekend, they placed second in the small mixed division, upsetting predictions and beating out groups like Pendleton and Franklin Community. After such a strong start to their season, they will be taking a 2-week break before they compete again at Franklin Community.
Whiteland Community enters the top five this week with a strong second place in the small mixed division at the Carroll Classic ahead of Columbia City, Jay County, and DeKalb. The Rhythm Masters began the season with a grand championship over Franklin Community in what has been a breakout year for the program. This week, Whiteland competes at Pike Musicfest in a stacked mixed division, where making a four-group finals would make a statement.
