HomeRoom Show Choir Opens Call to Supplement Staff

To further its efforts to be a consistent and positive force in show choir media, HomeRoom Show Choir is in search of knowledgeable, excited, and committed individuals to join the collective's efforts.
The 2026 season marked HomeRoom's third as a national content outlet. HRSC continued to carry the banner with competition-centric written articles, both poll and formula rankings, multiple weekly shows, and an ever-expanding social media presence. However, its greatest resource is still its people, and HomeRoom is excited to cast for new folks to help the collective move forward.
Interest forms will be open from June 8 to June 17. If you're even thinking about joining the team, do it now! Filling out the interest form does not obligate you to anything beyond expressing your interest in joining the HomeRoom team.
Regional contributors are expected to have a working knowledge of the region they are expressing interest in. Written contributors are expected to have a working command of the English language (including grammar). Read on for a list of open positions and the duties associated with each:
Nebraska contributor
As one of the most competitive circuits in the nation, the Cornhusker State features one of the deepest circuits in the nation, complete with national powerhouse spread across multiple parts of the state. Duties of the position include:

Missouri (Northern/Eastern) contributor
There's a lot of show choir that goes on in Kansas City, north-central Missouri, and down into the St. Louis area. From national powerhouses like Troy Buchanan to surprise winners like Smith-Cotton to sneaky good groups like Platte County, the fun never stops. Duties of the position include:

Illinois contributor
The Land of Lincoln is home to a number of national contenders and a compact competition season that runs from early February to mid-March. Duties of the position include:

Indiana contributor
From some of the nation's top groups in the Indianapolis area to dozens of smaller schools exemplifying the spirit of show choir, Indiana boasts one of the nation's biggest and best circuits. Duties of the position include:

Iowa (Eastern) contributor
Many may focus on western Iowa's greatest groups, but the eastern side of the state packs a strong punch as well. The areas of Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Dubuque, Iowa City, and more all boast competitive ensembles. Duties of the position include:

Ohio contributor
The Buckeye State is rich with history and packed with action across the state from perennial national contender Loveland in Cincinnati to the upstart Euclid in Cleveland. Duties of the position include:

Minnesota contributor
The North Star State is certainly a beacon for the show choir world. Show designs from several top groups leave marks across the country for years to come, and out-of-state groups flock to big competitions like Hastings and Bloomington Kennedy. Duties of the position include:

With a sneaky amount of history and some of the nation's premier late-season competitions, New England, spanning the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, is a cozy scene worthy of top-notch coverage. Duties of the position include:

Western contributor
Sure, the top three California schools will put up great shows year in and year out, but the West has a very robust scene across its two advanced divisions, intermediate division, and novice division. Schools from other states like Arizona, New Mexico and Utah sometimes come to crash the party as well! Duties of the position include:

The Badger State may not list too many national contenders among its show choir participants, but it boasts a very well-balanced scene from north to south and east to west. Duties of the position include:

South Dakota show choir has a little bit of everything - a few powerhouse schools from the same city, a couple of great programs that are the only school from their area doing show choir, and a handful of smaller groups to fill out competitions. Duties of the position include:

From the bloodbath that is the Jackson metro to the power schools around Birmingham, up to the Nashville choirs and down to the Florida choirs, the south is one of the most diverse regions of show choir today. Duties of the position include:

Texas contributor
Centered around the Dallas-Fort Wayne metro, Texas is a scene that is emerging in the national spotlight in recent seasons. Duties of the position include:

Social Media Contributor
The general public is increasingly using social media to interact with media organizations these days. Creating relatable, sharable content is key for developing a base of support on these platforms, and this role will be on the forefront of creating that vital connection between HomeRoom’s content and the broader show choir community. Duties of the position include:
*post HomeRoom graphics, clips, and stories on to HomeRoom’s Instagram account during the season (requires flexible availability in-season)
*aggregate and assemble audience submissions for weekly Instagram post series
*post video and other content on HomeRoom’s TikTok account
*collaborate with editorial staff and contributors to adapt content for a social media audience
*Optional opportunities to contribute to other HomeRoom material, such as written pieces, podcasts, and shortform video, may arise
*Experience running organizational social media and/or scheduling platforms is recommended but not required.
Video Contributor
As an all-around media organization, HomeRoom takes pride in producing show choir content through all means, including written and visual content. While the blog is the central hub for rankings and news, HomeRoom is looking to expand its reach through video content across multiple social media platforms. Duties of the position include:
*create shortform reels for use on HomeRoom’s Instagram and TikTok accounts
*edit clips from HomeRoom’s podcasts into short form clips and/or medium-form segments for HomeRoom’s YouTube account
*collaborate with editorial staff and contributors to adapt content for a social media audience
*Optional opportunities to contribute to other HomeRoom material, such as written pieces, podcasts, and shortform video, may arise
