HomeRoom Show Choir Seeks Additional Contributors

In sync with its mission of connecting show choir performers, parents, professionals, fans and other enthusiasts across the world, HomeRoom Show Choir is in search of passionate and enthusiastic individuals to join the collective's efforts.
The 2025 season was a great one for HomeRoom. The site covered more regions than ever before, returned its signature columns, podcasts, and rankings, and expanded its presence both at competitions nationwide and across several social media platforms. HRSC is looking to take it one step further for the future and fill in the missing puzzle pieces to assemble a team of creators representing every major show choir region in the United States.
Interest forms will be open from June 26 to July 10. If you're even thinking about joining the team, do it now! Filling out the interest form does not obligate you to anything else.
Regional contributors are expected to have a working knowledge of the region they are expressing interest in. Written contributors are expected to have a working command of the English language (including grammar). Read on for a list of open positions and the duties associated with each:
Missouri (Northern/Eastern) contributor
There's a lot of show choir that goes on in Kansas City, north-central Missouri, and down into the St. Louis area. From national powerhouses like Troy Buchanan to surprise winners like Smith-Cotton to sneaky good groups like Platte County, the fun never stops. Duties of the position include:

*write occasional articles during the offseason covering Missouri news, group spotlights, and other offerings
*collaborate with editorial staff and other Missouri writers to improve storycraft

Illinois contributor
The Land of Lincoln is home to a number of national contenders and a compact competition season that runs from early February to mid-March. Duties of the position include:
*write weekly articles during the season covering Illinois show choir
*write occasional articles during the offseason covering Illinois news, group spotlights, and other offerings
*collaborate with other writers and editorial staff to improve storycraft
*Optional opportunities to contribute to other HomeRoom material, such as staff pieces, podcasts, and shortform video, may arise
Indiana contributor
From some of the nation's top groups in the Indianapolis area to dozens of smaller schools exemplifying the spirit of show choir, Indiana boasts one of the nation's biggest and best circuits. Duties of the position include:
*write weekly articles during the competition season covering Indiana show choir
*write occasional articles during the offseason covering Indiana news, group spotlights, and other offerings
*collaborate with other Indiana writers and editorial staff to improve storycraft
*Optional opportunities to contribute to other HomeRoom material, such as staff pieces, podcasts, and shortform video, may arise
Iowa (Eastern) contributor
Many may focus on western Iowa's greatest groups, but the eastern side of the state packs a great punch as well. The areas of Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Dubuque, Iowa City, and more all boast competitive ensembles. Duties of the position include:
*write weekly articles during the season covering eastern Iowa show choir, mainly focused around the areas of Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Dubuque, and Iowa City
*write occasional articles during the offseason covering Iowa news, group spotlights, and other offerings

Minnesota contributor
The North Star state is certainly a beacon for the show choir world. Show designs from several top groups leave marks across the country for years to come, and out-of-state groups flock to big competitions like Hastings and Totino-Grace. Duties of the position include:

New England contributor
With a sneaky amount of history and some of the nation's premier late-season competitions, New England is a cozy scene worthy of top-notch coverage. Duties of the position include:

*collaborate with other writers and editorial staff to improve storycraft

Virginia contributor
Mostly centered around the Richmond area, Virginia show choir is probably a little bit slept on by the rest of the country but still produces great battles and great groups! Duties of the position include:

West Virginia contributor
From the Huntington-area groups in the southwest to the Berkley County groups in the panhandle, West Virginia has show choir representation in many different areas of the state. Duties of the position include:

Western contributor
Sure, the top three California schools will put up great shows year in and year out, but the West has a very robust scene across its two advanced divisions, intermediate division, and novice division. Schools from other states like Arizona, New Mexico and Utah sometimes come to crash the party as well! Duties of the position include:

Wisconsin contributor
The Badger State may not list too many national contenders among its show choir participants, but it boasts a very well-balanced scene from north to south and east to west. Duties of the position include:
