After Two Weeks In Competition, The Top Dogs Remain The Same - Ohio Show Choir Rankings (1/17/26)

By Michael McHargh, Ohio contributor

Three regional experts were surveyed on 25 of Ohio's best show choirs after an intense Beavercreek Midwest Show Choir Classic. These are the results.

Large Mixed (40+ performers)

  1. Marysville "Swingers Unlimited" (3 first-place votes, no change from preseason)

  2. Solon "Music in Motion" (1 first-place vote, NC)

  3. Fairfield "Choraliers" (NC)

  4. Loveland "By Request" (+1)

  5. Grove City "Touch of Class" (-1)

  6. Piqua "The Company" (NC)

  7. Findlay "First Edition" (NC)

  8. Olentangy "Keynotes" (NC)

  9. ETC "All Americans" (NC)

  10.  Beavercreek "Friends" (NC)

News and Notes

  • Although Solon claimed their sixth consecutive Grand Championship title, they earned no major captions.

  • Loveland toppled Piqua after not doing so last season; By Request earned Best Choreography, Best Band, and Second Runner-Up overall, besting Piqua and Hurricane.

A potential large mixed matchup this weekend between ETC and Olentangy at Winfield was called off due to weather, meaning none of Ohio's top ten large mixed groups will be in action.

Small Mixed (Less than 40 performers)

  1. Edgewood "Choraliers" (4 first-place votes, no change)

  2. Euclid "Varsity Chorale" (NC)

  3. Ross "Legacy" (+1)

  4. Twinsburg "Great Expectations" (-1)

  5. Kenton "Top Twenty" (NC)

  6. North Royalton "Royal Harmony" (+1)

  7. Teays Valley "Prominent Rendition" (-1)

  8. Hamilton "Prestige" (Not Ranked)

  9. Garfield Heights "Music Express" (-1)

  10.  Alliance "Jet Setters" (-1)

Receiving votes: Buckeye Valley "Visions", Van Buren "The Association"

News and Notes

  • A small shakeup happened at the top as more groups have their preview nights. Ross sneaks ahead of Twinsburg, claiming the final spot on the podium for the start of the season.

  • Hamilton impressed audiences with their performance at Beavercreek, earning Prestige a placement in the small mixed rankings.

This weekend is one of the largest, if not the largest showdown of Ohio small mixed choirs that will happen this season. Five of the top ten small mixed choirs will compete with an additional handful of small mixed choirs from Ohio and Indiana at North Royalton. This will be a very daunting competition for all groups involved and will be sure to be an event to see.

Single-Gender

  1. Grove City "Class Act" (4 first-place votes, no change)

  2. Fairfield "Pure Elegance" (NC)

  3. Loveland "Allure" (+2)

  4. Marysville "Swingers Select" (-1)

  5. ETC "Rouge" (-1)

News and Notes

  • Loveland’s Allure was the first womens group to perform this season and they set the bar high by winning their division, their first time doing so at Beavercreek since 2018, and earning a spot in finals.

Looking ahead for the single-gender choirs, an ETC vs. Olentangy showdown at Winfield was shuttered, as She-Notes were looking to flip the script on Rouge. At North Royalton, the only womens choir in attendance will be Alliance Aviatrix, who will not be competing for division placement but will be competing for a spot in finals.
