Waukee, Urbandale Headline Johnston Showzam Lineup

Johnston Showzam 2026 will be a full showing of in-state competition and an out-of-state program. The matchup between Waukee Millennium and Urbandale Studio is looking increasingly close at the top of the board.
Womens Division
Urbandale “Affinity”
Sioux Falls Roosevelt “Capitol Harmony”
Although the womens division only has two competing choirs, it could shape up to be anyone’s game. While Affinity is most likely to come out on top, Capitol Harmony is coming out strong out of the gate this season with a win at Sioux Falls Jefferson two weeks ago.
Prep Division
Prairie “Focal Point”
Urbandale “Vitality”
Waukee “Spirit”
Waukee Prairieview “Genesis”
The prep division isn’t looking particularly notable besides the fact that Waukee Prairieview Genesis is competing in the prep division instead of the middle school division. The results of the prep division might look predictable, but the matchup between Spirit and Vitality could end up being something special.
Mixed Division
Indianola “Side One”
Dowling Catholic “Dimensions”
Norwalk “Sound Revolution”
Sioux Falls Roosevelt "Executive Suite”
Prairie “The Ambassadors”
Waukee “Millennium”
Urbandale “Studio”
There are seven mixed groups at Showzam this year and only six finals spots. While Dimensions and Sound Revolution are looking to make finals at Johnston again after a successful 2025, Indianola Side One is looking to clinch a spot as they return to this competition for the first time in four years. The matchup between Urbandale Studio and Waukee Millennium is shaping up to be interesting as both groups have had a great start to their season. Sioux Falls Roosevelt Executive Suite is also looking to make their mark on this competition, as they are attending it for the first time amongst a gauntlet of talented Iowa choirs.

GC: Waukee “Millennium” (BC/BB)
1st Runner Up: Urbandale “Studio” (BV)
2nd Runner Up: Prairie “The Ambassadors”
3rd Runner Up: Indianola “Side One”
4th Runner Up: Sioux Falls Roosevelt “Executive Suite”
5th Runner Up: Dowling Catholic “Dimension”
While the top two placements and bottom three placements could be anyone’s game, it’s a safe bet at this point in the season to have The Ambassadors in the third-place spot. While Urbandale was able to snatch the Best Vocals caption from Waukee Northwest Eos at Supernova this past week, Waukee took the momentum from its historically successful 2025 season and were able to claim the win at DMC on Jan. 10. Even though the matchup between these two choirs is extremely competitive, the momentum and flashiness that Millennium has this year may put them just over the edge at Johnston.
The bottom three placements are wide open as Sioux Falls Roosevelt Executive Suite gets thrown in the mix between historically closely-matched choirs Indianola and Dowling Catholic. Due to Executive Suite’s presence at the competition, it will leave one choir on the outside of finals, and that may be Norwalk Sound Revolution. No matter what happens, Saturday is looking like a talent-filled and interesting day at Johnston Showzam.
