By William Soquet, Editor-in-Chief

Winning isn’t everything, but it certainly is something. Here’s a look at who took overall Grand Championships this weekend, and what it means in historical context.

California

Oceanside: Los Alamitos grabbed a no-caption win, prevailing in a chaotic yet completely predictable way at Sound-Off. Sound FX now has two wins on the year, marking 14 straight full competition seasons that the group has won multiple events. Los Al moves up to 48 recorded wins, tied with Carmel and Johnston.

Mississippi

Brandon: Northwest Rankin took the overall win from the 3A division, defeating both previous winners of Elite (Jackson Prep and Madison Central) in the process. The Ambassadors have doubled their overall win total this year, bookending their season with wins at Jackson Prep and Brandon. Their four wins at Mississippi comps tie them with Madison Central and Albertville.

Nebraska

Northeast CC: Norfolk Velocity once again won its hometown jazz festival, formally ending the Nebraska show choir season on Monday the 24th. Velocity has won the event each of the four years it has been held after the pandemic, and tallies six wins total at Northeast. Velocity moves to seven recorded wins with this triumph.

Oklahoma

Enid: In what is the first recorded instance of Enid having a contest, Alva Gold Rush won the small school division over Lexington Southern Accents and won the overall title, beating large schools Edmond Santa Fe and Durant. This is Alva’s first recorded win, making them the eighth different Oklahoma school to have a win recorded in the online database.

West Virginia

Martinsburg: Jefferson Pop Singers improved one spot from where they were in 2024 and won The American Classic. It is the first recorded win for the group, although Pop Singers was a successful group in the pre-Internet era. Pop Singers is the 11th different winner of the American Classic and the 17th different group from West Virginia to win a competition.

Regional

Heart of America Orlando: Carroll Magic took a split-caption win over Ankeny Centennial, becoming the sixth different winner of HOA Orlando in as many editions. Magic finishes with five wins this season, a great rebound after a winless 2024 season. Their 34 recorded wins are tied with Loveland for 41st overall.
