Two Classics and a Showdown All Offer Feb. 7 Nebraska Action

By Quinn Masek, Siouxland contributor

There are multiple interesting competitions on Nebraska on Feb. 7, each with their own unique storylines and levels of competition. From the Omaha suburbs to a competition in Lincoln, there's plenty to watch for all around

Papillion-La Vista South Titan Classic Lineup

Mixed Division: Mitchell “Friend de Coup”, Papillion-La Vista “Free Spirit”, Millard West “West In The Groove”, Gretna “Revolution”

Single-Gender: Papillion-La Vista “Monarchy”, Millard West “Uptown”, “Papillion-La Vista “Heart and Soul”

Prep: Gretna “Evolution”, Millard West “Swing Cats”

While not as many schools are attending as the last few years, Mitchell vs. Millard West vs. Gretna is one heck of a top three, and depending how things shake up, that can go any way. Gretna has won this competition the last three years in a row, but the last time Gretna competed against Millard West at Lewis Central 2025, WIG won with Best Choreography and Best Band over Revolution. Friend de Coup is also a group that shouldn’t be underestimated since they bested WIG at Urbandale 2025, and already placed in the top two this season. Millard West is the only group of the three with a Grand Champion trophy so far this season, so they do have that leg up on the competition.

Outside of those big three, Gretna Evolution facing Millard West Swing Cats is also a very interesting battle, with at least one of those two groups expected to make finals and the winner having a claim to being the best prep group in the state of Nebraska.

GC: Gretna “Revolution”

1RU: Millard West “West In The Groove”

2RU: Mitchell “Friend De Coup”

3RU: Papillion-La Vista “Free Spirit”

4RU: Gretna “Evolution”

5RU: Millard West “Uptown”

Elkhorn Red Carpet Classic Lineup

Mixed Division: Bellevue East “Take II”, Pius X “Spectrum”, Maryville “Spectrum”, Millard North “Infinity”, Blair “Ovation”, Skutt Catholic “Vivace”, Elkhorn North “AdrENaline”

Womens: MKS Studio “BRIO”, Marian “Momentum”, Skutt Catholic “Allegro”, Pius X “Prism”, Millard North “Illumination”, Mercy “The Treblemakers”

Prep: Elkhorn North “ENcore”, Millard North “Intensity”

One of the most interesting storylines in this competition is Millard North and Elkhorn North. At the beginning of the season at Gretna, Infinity placed second with Best Band while AdrENaline placed fifth. Then a week later, Infinity placed fifth while AdrENaline placed third, a switch from the previous results. Elkhorn marks a true midseason competition. Is AdrENaline going to stay ahead of Infinity, or will Infinity make a big leap and best AdrENaline? It’s also worth noting that AdrENaline did win this competition last season, and this is Millard North's first time attending this competition. One school that could upset these two is Pius X. This is Spectrum's second competition of the season, and they only lost to Norris and Lincoln Southwest at Standing Bear a few weeks ago.

A similar thing can be seen in the prep division, where Intensity won the prep division at Gretna while ENcore placed fourth, but at Gretna East, Intensity placed last in the division while ENcore stayed in fourth. Again, there could be a shakeup where Intensity pulls off another division win, or ENcore could get their first prep division win in the program's history.

GC: Elkhorn North “AdrENaline”

1st Runner Up: Millard North “Infinity”

2nd Runner Up: Pius X “Spectrum”

3rd Runner Up: Skutt Catholic “Vivace”

4th Runner Up: Millard North “Illumination”

5th Runner Up: Elkhorn North “ENcore”

Lincoln Southwest Showdown Lineup

Mixed Division: Lincoln Northwest “First Class”, Norfolk Senior “Velocity”, Wahoo “Royalty”, Elkhorn South “Blackout”, Norris “Gold”, Lincoln East “Express”, Lincoln “Chain Reaction”

Womens: Norris “Titanaires”, Elkhorn South “Shock Wave”

Prep: Norris “68th Street Singers”, Lincoln “Momentum”, Lincoln East “Elevation”, Elkhorn South “Power Surge”

There are a few things to note when talking about this lineup, the main thing involves Elkhorn South. Blackout is the only group here with a Grand Champion trophy so far this season, and actually, they have two. Express has only competed once so far at Gretna, where they got sixth place, and withdrew from Gretna East due to sickness. Meanwhile Gold has been seemingly improving with each new competition, recently placing fourth at Lincoln East’s competition. Also, Chain Reaction started off their season with an impressive podium finish, beating Grand Island Senior. Plus Shock Wave has been having one heck of a season, proving themselves as one of the best womens groups in Nebraska. There are a few interesting storylines here, and things could go in any direction.
