National Single-Gender Show Choir Poll Rankings (2026 Postseason)

Four HomeRoom staffers were polled on the top 25 single-gender groups of 2026. As in any good show choir competition, the scores were tight.
This year, the Indianapolis circuit took center stage, with nine of the nation’s top 25 hailing from the Hoosier State. In a chaotic year for this single-gender scene, several top Indiana groups traded wins, and the top two groups even split a grand championship.
Following an undefeated 2025 season, the Center Grove Debtones continued their dominance, winning five of their six competitions, including Show Choir Nationals, where they defeated ninth ranked Brownsburg and fourth ranked Fishers, who had tied the Debtones earlier in the season in a rare shared grand championship. Even in a year where they switched choreographers, the Debtones looked strong as ever. Fishers Sound ran the gauntlet this year, facing Center Grove and Franklin Central twice. Despite the challenging schedule, Fishers won four of their six competitions, taking fourth place in the national rankings. Franklin Central took a major step forward this year, entering the top five and becoming the third ranked Indiana group. They won three grand championships in the stacked Indianapolis circuit, including their first victory over Carmel since 2009. The drop from ranked to not was steep, as only one other Indiana group received votes compared to the nine who landed in the top 25.
In the south, Tupelo Synergy continued their reign as the premier single-gender group and even took down some of the best mixed groups in the state, including Grenada and Northwest Rankin, to win an unprecedented three overall grand championships. The Muses from Oak Mountain emerged as the only other ranked southern group this season, winning three times in the single-gender division, with their only non-GC performance coming from their trip to Indianapolis, where they took second runner up ahead of nineteenth ranked North Central. Homewood Nexus missed out on the placings at Show Choir Nationals but
still did enough to receive a smattering of votes from the panel.
Out west, John Burroughs Sound Sensations showcased their dominance over the California treble circuit, winning all three of their competitions and taking best musicianship and showmanship in both of their battles with sixth ranked Los Alamitos to take a top three spot in the nation. John Burroughs also took two more spots within the top 25, with their prep groups Decibelles and Men @ Work also being ranked.
In the midwest, Ankeny Centennial Vortex snagged a top ten national ranking, with a reputation of defeating strong mixed groups similar to Tupelo. Vortex chose to compete in the large mixed division in Iowa and made finals at three out of their four competitions, which included a podium placement at Waukee. In Nebraska, Millard North made similar waves, winning the treble or prep division at all of their competitions, even making finals and placing fourth at Waconia. Program structure across the upper midwest (Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin) that gives preference to mixed prep groups compared to single-gender groups is the likely explanation for the relative dearth of groups included, although Johnston Bella Voce and Millard West Uptown also landed on some voters’ ballots.
In Ohio, fourteenth-ranked Fairfield Pure Elegance was the top group following their victory at the Ross Legacy Championship in a head-to-head battle with two other top-20 groups, Marysville and Loveland, to close the year. Following a successful inaugural season where they took their first divisional grand championship, Marysville Swingers Select added four more in just their second season to take sixteenth nationally. Just behind them, Loveland Allure won two divisional grand championships and even made overall finals twice, including at a difficult Beavercreek competition.
Illinois produced a pair of ranked groups, with both Mt. Zion’s single-gender groups making the top 25. Their bass group, You’ve Got Male – one of two bass groups to be ranked – and their treble group, Les Femmes, took turns defeating the other in a highly competitive matchup throughout the season. While neither group had a spotless season, they did enough to outlast Wheaton Warrenville South Esprit (who landed on top in the Illinois-specific single-gender rankings), El Paso-Gridley Hi Fidelity and others.
Missouri put a pair of groups just outside the rankings; Carthage Suite Sounds led the way with a pair of overall finals appearances. Cosby Rhapsody carried the banner for Virginia, sweeping all three competitions in the Commonwealth and competing at a deep Chesterton event. Despite claiming two overall grand championships and two other division wins, Winfield Emerald Elegance from West Virginia did not garner any votes.
