News and Notes
Avon off to best start ever: Avon Accents has won their first two competitions, marking the best start in program history, sweeping all major captions at both. This past week, they beat Plainfield, outplacing them for the first time since 2023. Their Olympics-themed show has been well-received with a creative second number that does a great job incorporating numerous Olympic sports in a silly way (that number also elevates their vocals).
Lafayette Jeff Remains Undefeated: Last year, First Edition added Mark Myers, who was known for a dominant decade-long run at Waubonsie Valley, stacking up nearly two dozen grand championships. While they did not win a grand championship last year, Jeff has started hot this year. They've taken wins at Carroll and Naperville North, where they took Best Choreography and beat one of Illinois’ best, Wheaton North, to move up into the top ten.
Large Mixed sees Major Shake Up: This past week, Center Grove and Ben Davis hosted many of the top 10 groups, leading to some significant ranking adjustments for fourth through ninth place. North Central, Fishers, and Zionsville were caught in an extremely tight battle at CG’s Best of the Midwest, with only a few points deciding the entire mixed division. Expect this to all shift again in a few weeks as the top groups continue to compete and refine their shows even further.

Franklin Central “High Voltage” (+1)
Zionsville “Choralaires” (-1)
Avon “Attraction” (NC)
Brownsburg “Starlight Voices” (NC)
Plainfield “Femmes Fatales” (NC)
North Central “Descants” (NC)
Westfield “Illumination” (Not Ranked)
Receiving Votes: Lawrence North “Bella Bravada”
News and Notes
Accents Ascend: The real bright spot of the weekend for the Carmel choir program was Accents, as they won a division that featured some a variety of womens groups across the Midwest at Chesterton. They have returned with a vengeance and put themselves into the conversation for the top of the list. A showdown this week between the top three groups in Indy and Mississippi’s Tupelo Synergy, known for defeating mixed groups across the South, will be the first tangible result to see where Carmel ranks among Indy’s best.
Westfield makes the rankings: Westfield continues a strong season with another great showing at Chesterton against phenomenal competition. While they failed to make a three-group womens finals, their performance has rapidly advanced in only the program's second year. Taking a caption from Fishers Sound is a huge achievement for any program in the country and has helped to further put Westfield on the map as a group to watch in the coming years.
High Voltage races into the top four: Franklin Central surges forward this week with a second place at Center Grove, where they grabbed Best Choreography and Best Costumes and outplaced Zionsville. Their show this year highlights Indiana, with a heavy emphasis on the state’s famous racing event, the Indianapolis 500. High Voltage masters a variety of vocal and dance styles: they open with a beautiful rendition of Indiana’s state song, Back Home Again in Indiana, and finish with a high-energy racing closer.

Small Mixed
Roncalli “Royal Rhapsody” (3 first-place votes, NC)
Pendleton Heights “Pendletones” (+1)
Huntington North “Varsity Singers” (-1)
New Castle “Red Hot Blues” (Not Ranked)
Northridge “Northern Lights” (-1)
Receiving Votes: DeKalb “Classic Connection”
News and Notes
Pendleton Pushes Up: Pendletones moved into second this week with a grand championship at Ben Davis, increasing their win total to two on the season with a victory at Fishers two weeks ago. With Huntington North starting slow, placing second behind North Royalton at an out-of-state competition, Pendleton has a chance to jump into the top spot this week with a rematch against Roncalli at FC’s Hoosier Show Choir Classic.
Roncalli Remains Undefeated: Roncalli continued their undefeated season with a sweep of Center Grove’s small mixed division, including a defeat of Edgewood Music Warehouse. Their standout victory of the season came at Decatur Central, where they defeated many talented Large Mixed groups, including Lawrence North and Lawrence Central. After going undefeated in the small mixed division last year, they have a chance to do that once again, but will have to beat Pendleton Heights and Huntington North at ISSMA finals to do it.
New Castle Races into Fourth: After not making the top five last week, New Castle jumped into fourth this week with a sweep at the DeKalb Choir Festival, where they beat Fairfield and Columbia City. While they started the season with a First Runner Up to DeKalb, they did take Best Choreography at Ball State and continue to shine with their racing-themed show.

Small Womens
Pendleton Heights “Emerald Suites” (2 first-place votes, +1)
Jay County “Just Treble” (Not Ranked)
Huntington North “Viking Volume” (-2)
New Castle “Dynamiques” (1 first-place vote, NC)
Cathedral “Irish Adrenaline” (Not Ranked)
Receiving Votes: Northridge “Starlights”
Jay County Flies into Second: Just Treble moves into second this week with a win at the Kenton Cup in Ohio, where they took Best Vocals and defeated last year’s state champion, Huntington North Viking Volume. This week, they will have a rematch against Huntington North and face several talented Large Womens groups at Homestead, which will determine whether they can remain at the top of a very competitive small women’s circuit.
Irish Rush into the Top Five: Cathedral moved into the top five this week for the first time this season with a victory in Center Grove’s small womens division over Edgewood Sophisticated Ladies. Irish Adrenaline took both captions and continued their undefeated streak that began with an overall womens victory at Decatur Central, where their powerful vocals led them past Lawrence North Bella Bravada.
