As the season comes to a close, many schools choose to end theirs in Sioux City. With
groups from South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, and of course Iowa, the Sioux City East Sing All About It competition puts champions against each other who usually don’t compete against each other.
Mens Division
Bishop Heelan “MoMANtum”
After making finals at the start of the season, MoMANtum then took second place in the
mens division to Totino-Grace Testostertones. Since they are the only mens group
competing today, they should be able to leave it all on the stage and give the audience
a jaw-dropping performance.
Prep Division
Elkhorn South “Power Surge”
While being the only group in the division, Power Surge should not be overlooked. The
group made finals last weekend for the first time in the program's history, so they could
be seen as a finalist contender.
Womens Division
Bishop Heelan “Magnifique”
Aberdeen Central “Special Request”
Elkhorn South “Shockwave”
Shockwave has only lost to one womens group this season, Millard North Illumination, who
they later beat. That makes them the going favorite to win the treble division. With that said, the last time Shockwave attended Sioux City East, they were last in their division. Magnifique is the only one of these three groups to make finals so far this season, and Special Request is still looking for a division win after taking third last weekend at O’Gorman.
Final Predictions
Grand Champion: Mitchell “Friend de Coup” (BC)
1st Runner Up: Hastings “Riverside Company” (BV)
2nd Runner Up: Elkhorn South “Blackout”
3rd Runner Up: Bishop Heelan “Harmonia Mundi”
4th Runner Up: Aberdeen Central “Eagle Express”
5th Runner Up: Elkhorn South “Shockwave”
With a top two that could go either way, Friend de Coup's success last weekend at
Bishop Heelan could put them above Riverside Company, who placed third at Totino-
Grace. It doesn’t look like a runaway as Riverside Company could easily take Best
Vocals from Friend de Coup, who has been on a run of nabbing choreography captions.
Blackout is coming off a split-caption second place at Grand Island. While they’ve already
beat Riverside Company earlier this season at Gretna, it’s looking like the two may
to flip at Sioux City East. Harmonia Mundi has failed to miss the podium thus far, but
due to the level of competition present at Sioux City East, that might change. Eagle
Express hasn’t placed higher than third place, so many expect to see them in the bottom
half of the finalists. There are several contenders for the sixth spot, but given Shockwave's recent success, there is a chance for some judges to place the womens group higher than some varsity groups.
