Another weekend of the 2025 southern show choir season is over and another set of results is in! Competitions from Georgia to Alabama to Mississippi featured tight battles at the top.
PETAL SHOW CHOIR INVITATIONAL

While the final result isn’t all that shocking (a Clinton sweep in finals), there is one note-worthy thing to take away from this competition at the top: In the preliminary round, three of the five judges had Grenada ahead of Clinton visually. This did change after finals (with three of the five giving Clinton the visuals nod), but this is still the first time in a long while Clinton has lost a caption (even when there was no award or trophy handed out) in prelims, much less at all. Beyond the top two placements, Biloxi had what some might consider an upset of their own, placing directly above West Jones to earn third at this competition. Oak Grove rounded out the top five spots, placing fifth. In the absence of in-state divisional powerhouse Northeast Jones, South Jones claimed the 2A division. In an exact copy of last week’s placements, the 1A division went to West Marion, followed by Clinton Christian and Pass Christian respectively. Biloxi claimed the Single-Gender division over Purvis. Final results are as below (five finalists):
GC) Clinton “Attaché” (Sweep)
1RU) Grenada “Visions”
2RU) Biloxi “Sound Surge”
3RU) West Jones “Imagination”
4RU) Oak Grove “Center Stage”
1st in 4A/3A) Clinton “Attaché”
1st in 2A) South Jones “Company”
1st in 1A) West Marion “New Era”
1st in Single-Gender) Biloxi “Sound Sirens”
AUBURN SHOW CHOIR SHOWDOWN

Longtime southern show choir blue-blood Homewood won their fight this weekend against fellow Alabama group Oak Mountain to claim their third Grand Championship sweep on the season. Not only did these two groups claim the top two overall spots, but their womens groups finished third (Oak Mountain) and fourth (Homewood) in finals as well, followed by Spain Park in the last slot. Middle mixed was won by a Briarwood group that had several fewer people on stage than last weekend over Homewood Continuum and Albertville. Lakeside won their small mixed division in what some might consider a minor upset in the division, beating Sylacauga, Tallassee and Chelsea. Final results are as below (five finalists):
GC) Homewood “The Network” (Sweep)
1RU) Oak Mountain “Singers”
2RU) Oak Mountain “The Muses”
3RU) Homewood “Nexus”
4RU) Spain Park “Rhapsody In Blue”
1st in X-Large/Large) Homewood “The Network”
1st in Middle) Briarwood “Radica”
1st in Small) Lakeside “Soundsation”
1st in Single Gender) Oak Mountain “The Muses”
ROME THREE RIVER SHOW CHOIR INVITATIONAL

(Tift County Show Choirs)
The other two competitions may have been headlined by blue-blood dominance from Clinton and Homewood, but the competition at Rome allowed for a different set of results. It was here that we got a once-in-a-blue-moon “no overall placements” result, meaning there was no overall Grand Championship or top five placements announced. The only placements here were divisional. Donelson Christian Academy placed over Bradley Central to claim the Large Mixed divisional title. Tift County placed over Appling County and Jasper to claim the Middle Mixed divisional title. Cleveland placed over North Paulding to claim the Small Mixed divisional title. Tift County’s mens group, Tiftosterone, placed over their own womens group, Ladies Choice, to claim the Single Gender divisional title. Final results are as below (No finals):
1st in X-Large/Large) Donelson Christian Academy “Legacy”
1st in Middle) Tift County “Eighth Street Singing Company”
1st in Small) Cleveland “Renaissance”
1st in Single-Gender) Tift County “Tiftosterone”
OUT OF TOWN
This last weekend, Tupelo traveled up north to Indianapolis to compete in the Franklin Central Hoosier Show Choir Classic against the likes of Center Grove, Carmel, and Fishers. Unfortunately for the ladies of north Mississippi, they missed Womens Finals after a tough pool of competition during prelims (although Tupelo did earn the Best Band award). They have one competition left on their schedule this season, as they will head down south on March 8th to compete at Biloxi against the likes of Clinton and Petal.
