News and NotesÂ
Homewood and Grenada Tumble
Due to fairly rocky starts for both programs, both Homewood and Grenada seemed to have fallen below typical rankings of years past. Homewood sits at 8, and Grenada missed the top 10 completely (despite them picking up votes along the way). Grenada will be idle this weekend, but Homewood will have a chance to bounce-back with a potential win over Avon.
Middle Division Clears
Despite a three-way split in the 2A tier last week between Vestavia Hills, Homewood, and South Jones, the latter has seemingly taken a leap above the others, garnering all first-place votes. Despite Vestavia Hills and Homewood middle-mixed groups sitting idle this weekend, South Jones will be attending the Petal Show Choir Invitational where they'll compete against Sumrall and Pearl River Central in the 2A division.
1A Remains Tightly Contested
Like last weekend, the 1A tier seems to be contested as ever, with Oxford barely edging out West Marion for the first-place spot in the division. Pass Christian sits are thirds, getting closer and closer every weekend to taking one of the top groups down. Pisgah sits at 4th, coming off a debut performance where they swept their division, and Rome sits at 5th to round out the division.
Future Matchups
This weekend is nothing short of extreme matchups. Clinton takes on Brandon and Tupelo head on this Saturday at the Jackson Prep Masters, and Homewood seemingly has a 1-on-1 matchup with Avon to highlight the Petal Show Choir Invitational. There's also some other noteworthy bouts to keep an eye on, such as Madison Central versus Northeast Jones, Pisgah versus Oxford,
