The 2025 show choir season has been over for a few weekends, and it is time for this year's final set of show choir rankings of the Southern circuit. In true show choir fashion, an extra voter was added to the finals voting panel in order to include a more thorough set of results. This set of placements reflects that of the middle mixed division.
1st) South Jones "Company" (4 first-place votes)

(Austin Allen Perkins)
South Jones comes out on top as the highest-ranked 2A/Middle mixed group in the South this year. In line with the last few years, South Jones has made even more progress under the hottest director in the South, Austin Perkins. Winning their division at five of the six competitions they attended, with the lone outlier being a divisional second place to Northeast Jones, South Jones adds an extremely impressive year to their program's historical and star-studded catalog. They also garnered a third overall and fifth overall placement this year, with their best wins coming against the likes of Biloxi's womens group, Northeast Jones, Northwest Rankin's womens group, and Mt. Zion's womens group.
2nd) Homewood "Continuum" (2 first-place votes)

(Jasper Choir)
With two divisional wins and a lone second in division (to the division-switching Briarwood), Homewood had a very successful season to add to their records. Their highest placement of the year was a fourth overall placement over sibling choir Nexus. Their best wins were over the likes of Briarwood, Vestavia Hills, Hoover, and Tift County. While Continuum had previously served as a freshman group for Homewood, the group transitioned to be a full preparatory ensemble this year, with performers hailing from all four high school grades.
3rd) Tift County "8th Street Singing Company"

(Tift County Show Choirs)
The dark horse of 2A this year, Tift County shocked most people in the Southern region with their consistently high placements in the division. They had finished second in division twice and had a lone divisional win. Their only losses came to Homewood and Hoover, both of whom Tift County took Best Vocals from within the division. Their best wins of the season come against the likes of Hoover, Vestavia Hills, and Jasper. Tift County undoubtedly wins the most improved program award for this highly competitive division.
4th) Hoover "Paradigm"
Right behind Tift County as the most improved group for this tier, Hoover had an extremely impressive progression of a season. After being just 7 or so points away from pulling off an upset over Auburn's mixed group to start the season, Hoover went on to finish the year with two divisional wins, a lone third in division, and their first overall Grand Championship in program history. Their best wins come against the likes of Tift County, Vestavia Hills, and Jasper. The gap between Hoover and Tift County on this list was razor-thin, coming down to a tiebreaker.
5th) Northeast Jones "Gold Horizons"
In their second year removed from the legendary Bill Myers, Northeast Jones is still putting up some impressive numbers. This middle mixed blue-blood finished the year with two divisional wins, two seconds, and a lone third. They also earned a third overall placement at their first competition of the season, with their best wins coming against the likes of South Jones, Brandon's womens group, and West Marion.
6th) Vestavia Hills "Singers"
Most likely the biggest dropoff compared to last year's rankings, Vestavia Hills lands at number six on this list, ending the season with a second, third, and no placement in their division. Their best wins came against the likes of Briarwood, Pearl River Central, and Helena, and it's worth mentioning they did take the middle mixed Best Vocals caption from Homewood at Oak Mountain.
7th) Sumrall "Legacy"
Sumrall had a pretty successful season for their program, racking up two thirds, a second, and a first in division. They also racked up fourth and fifth overall placements while they were at it. Their best wins of the season come against Northeast Jones, Biloxi's womens group, and Pearl River Central.
8th) Pearl River Central "Central Attraction"
Pearl River Central had a fairly solid year in 2025. Although they lacked a divisional win, they did earn two seconds, a third, and three fourths. Their best wins of the season come against Sumrall, Rosa Scott, and Helena.
9th) Jasper "Phoenix"
Like Pearl River Central, Jasper also had a fairly solid season in 2025. Despite a singular no placement, they earned a divisional third and a divisional win. Their lone recorded win of the season comes against Bradley Central.
10th) Rosa Scott "Radiance"
Rosa Scott did what a freshman feeder group should and showed genuine promise throughout the year. Despite no wins, they did eventually earn a divisional second and third, even beating Texas visitor Burleson Centennial. Additionally, they were the only group on this list to appear at Show Choir Nationals this year.
11th) Albertville "CenterStage!"
Despite having no divisional head-to-head wins, Albertville might have the claim to the hardest schedule of the year (especially regarding their division). They only competed against Hoover (4th in 2A), Briarwood (13th in 3A/4A), and Homewood (1st in 2A) at their competitions.
12th) Appling County "Applause"
An odd group due to competing at competitions with different tier requirements, Appling County comes in with an odd resume. They have two divisional second placements, but one is in the 2A division (where they beat Jasper) and the other in the 1A division (where they lost to Oxford but took best choreography in the division).
13th) Bradley Central "Vocal Motion"
Bradley Central didn't have the season they had hoped for, though they are the highest-ranked group in this tier from Tennessee. Their lone head-to-head wins this season are against Columbus (IN) and Portsmouth (OH), both coming at a competition in Ohio.
14th) Helena "High Frequency"
Like some other groups on this list, Helena didn't quite have the season they had hoped for. Their only head-to-head win this season came against newcomer Leeds. They were the only group in middle mixed at another competition.
15th) Clinton Christian Academy "Extreme"
Clinton Christian Academy poses an interesting case here. Despite competing in the 1A division for three of their four competitions this year, they did compete in 2A at Jackson Academy. As such, they were considered a 2A group for these rankings. Their accolades for the year include a small mixed sweep at Madison Central and two divisional seconds.
Receiving Votes: Pike Road "Prestige", Leeds "Emerald Voices"
